Maestro Del Mar // Chefs Challenge #1
The Maestro del Mar or Chef’s Challenge will kickoff at 6:30pm on June 24th Wine Scene in the City of West Palm Beach. Chef Fritz Cassel of Hullabaloo makes his return to the battle field. He will be joined by the executive chef Robert Mauro from the new Whole Foods of West Palm Beach. As well as, Executive Chef Roberto Villegas from Table 427 and executive chef Joe Ferro from Table 26 round up Semi-Final #1.
Maestro Del Mar // Chefs Challenge #2
The 2nd Maestro del Mar Chef Challenge will take place on July 22nd at the exclusive International Polo Club in Wellington. This is one of the most magnificent locations in the series. The backdrop and pool setting of the host Mallet Grille is sure to leave guests with a memorable evening.
Your amazing chefs for Semi-Final #2 are Exec. Chef Clay Carnes from the Grille Fashion Cuisine, Chef William from Mallet Grille, Celebrity chef Bret Hauser known for his humble personality and tastebud satisfying dishes will be showcasing his talents for our guests and judges. Executive Chef Elmer Saravia representing BICE Ristorante on Palm Beach Island will be bringing is talents to Wellington to round up an all-star line up of culinary skills.
Maestro Del Mar // Chefs Challenge #3
The 3rd Maestro del Mar Chef Challenge semi-final round will be held at one of our favorite hang outs and group of people; Saltwater Brewery in Delray on August 26th. The all-star lineup for Semi-Final #3 consists of Exec Chef Blake Malatesta of 50 Ocean, Executive chef kelley from The Office in Delray will be stepping up to the cutting board, executive chef Dane runs one of South Floridas exclusive catering company Potions in Motions and is sure to leave your taste buds satisfied. Exec chef Jarod Higgins from CUT 432 will be showing diversity as he demonstrates his culinary skills creating amazing dishes for everyone to enjoy!
Maestro Del Mar // Chefs Challenge #4
The celebrity chefs that will be competing at Williams-Sonoma in The Gardens Mall on September 27th are Exec Chef Adam Brown from The Cooper, Exec Chef Eric Grutka, Exec. Chef Sean Collins from Brio Tuscan Grill & Executive Chef Michael Molloy of the Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harbour Side Place representing Deep Blu Seafood Grille. Be sure to get your passes early, they will sell out!
2015: Chefs Challenge Finale
After a long and exciting summer of celebrity chefs challenges that showcased some of the best culinary talent Palm beach county has to offer we have reached the Championship Round. The four finalist from this years series and the reigning champion from 2014 Eugenio Santucci are set to throw down 1 more time to determine who will be walking away with the title and the cash. This years series has been one for the books and started on June 24 and continued throughout the summer. Each chef finalist has had to go through 3 other culinary badasses in the semi-final rounds to get to this point. In order to reach the mountaintop they will need to sharpen their knives roll up the sleeves and prepare for battle one more time.
To become the 2015 Champion of this Ultimate Chef Showdown each chef will have 60 minutes to create a dish for the judges featuring an unknown mystery ingredient prepared with pantry items including fresh produce, baked goods, and grocery items, courtesy of Whole Foods Market in West Palm Beach.
Executive Chef Fritz Cassel won Semifinal #1 with his dish: quinoa-crusted smoked tuna with smoked mushrooms and charred asparagus. The secret ingredient was tuna. The winner of Semifinal #2 was Chef Clay Carnes with his dish: pan roasted spiced salmon with a passion fruit vinaigrette and a shaved fresh vegetable salad. Moving on from semi-final 3 is Exec. chef Blake Malatesta from 50 Ocean with his winning asian spoon snapper dishes, including Himalayan salt-cured snapper with a cabbage dill remoulade (served with Spiny Tail English ale); harissa-marinated snapper with spiced German potato salad (served with Screamin’ Reels IPA); and snapper ceviche with avocado yuzu and nectarine (served with guava pineapple IPA). Semifinal #4 saw Executive chef Eric Grutka come out on top with some exceptional cooking practices and 2 amazing lobster dishes that won the judges over and propelling him to Final round for the 2nd year in a row.
Guest judges include Roy Villacrusis, our Chef Ambassador and the chef behind many brilliant restaurant concepts and designs, Nicole Danna Elite Food Critic for Broward New Times and the award winning Food Critic and Editor for the Palm Beach Post Liz Balmaseda.
